Tom Decker and Chad Parkinson battle tough conditions to win!

The third event of the year was held at Smithland Pool on May 28th. The event was a make up event that had been rescheduled. It was an awesome day weather wise with temps in the upper eighties and low nineties. The fishing however was less than awesome as only the winning team had weight in the double digits. Hard to believe on Smithland Pool in Late May.

The first place team of Tom Decker and Chad Parkinson both from Elizabeth Town, IL. The team pitched Gambler Ugly Otters and Gambler Ninja Spins to heavy cover to boat their fish. The team had a five fish limit with a total weight of 10.32 lbs. Sponsored by: Gambler, Castaway Rods, X-Point, Stratus, Evinrude and Costa Delmar

In second place is the team of Mike Davis and Dan Ellison both of Murphysboro, IL. The team used a variety of baits fishing creek bank drops in five to eight feet. They had a total weight of 9.39 lbs earning checks totaling $685.00 Sponsored by: Murphysboro 1st bank and Trust and Art of Hair.

Third place goes to the team of Larry Dowdy and Tony Dowdy both of Murphysboro, IL.. The team fished spinnerbaits early and then switched to plastics late. The team had a total weight of 9.37 lbs and earned checks totaling $533.00. Sponsored by: Ranger Boats, Rend Lake Marine, Marlow Hill Drilling and S Coal Company.

The big bass of the day went to the team of Nick Sisk from Eldorado, IL. and Chris Penrod from Harrisburg, IL.. The fish weighed in at 3.69 lbs and on this day was enough. The fish was caught on a buzzbait in about 4 feet of water.
