Rend Lake 9-18
Southern Illinois teams launched at the break of dawn in search of important classic points and a big payday. With four teams all within striking distance of the divisional championship and limited classic field positions there was much riding on the days success.


The first place team of Jerry Bate and Brandon Bate both of Zeigler, Illinois made the most of the day as they weighed in a five fish limit seeing the scales reach 13.72lbs. The bag was anchored by a beautiful 6.73lb monster that also earned the team The Lunker Lure Big Bass Honors for the day. The team flipped tubes in shallow water and found their fish located on laydowns. Jerry and Brandon narrowly missed the division championship honors but will have to settle for checks totaling $1,870.00 on this day.


Second Place goes to the team of Mitch Gosha from Herrin, Illinois and Toby Corn of West Frankfort, Illinois went deep for their bites. The team concentrated on water depths of ten feet and fished sunken brush and Lunker Lure Jigs were the bait of choice. They brought a five fish limit to the scales weighing 13.66lbs and just narrowly missed taking the win. The team earned checks totaling $894.00 for their efforts. They are Sponsored by: Lunker Lure


The third place team of Jack Doan and Ben Doan both of Desoto, Illinois fished rip rap throughout the day. They were only able to bring four fish to the scales but they were quality bites coming to a total weight of 11.98lbs. They reported catching their fish on Lunker Lure Jigs and crankbaits in four to eight feet of water. The teams four bites earned them checks totaling $768.00 for the day.
